RELATED: Every Hornet Ability in Hollow Knight: Silksong's Xbox/Bethesda Showcase Trailer Have a Nice Death Shares a lot of Similarities with Hollow Knight Roguelikes have grown in popularity and appeal thanks to titles such as Hollow Knight and Dead Cells, and Have a Nice Death is another example of a game trying to capitalize on this genre. It's an interesting concept that developer Magic Design Studios has brought to life with a huge amount of attention to detail. The 2D rogue-lite game sees players take control of Death, the CEO of Death Inc., who must battle his wayward employees to restore order to his company. Have a Nice Death originally launched in March this year. For those looking for a quicker fix, indie game Have a Nice Death shares some similarities with the Hollow Knight series, and after a solid launch on Steam, it is coming to Nintendo Switch on March 22 next year. Thankfully, its now been given a loose release window of 2023, which, while still a little vague, has gone some way to appease the series' fans. A sequel, Hollow Knight: Silksong, was first announced in early 2019, but since then fans have received little news overall. There’s also a 20-minute developer diary video, with even more information on Silksong.Team Cherry's sprawling Metroidvania Hollow Knight has built up a huge fan base since its release in 2017, thanks to its engaging world and simple, robust gameplay. The team said everyone who backed the Kickstarter for the original game back in 2014 will receive the sequel for free, with the option to select Nintendo Switch as their platform of choice instead of PC if they backed for more than AU$10. Team Cherry has no release date set for Hollow Knight: Silksong, which is coming to Windows PC, Mac, Linux, and Nintendo Switch. “Almost from the very start, Hornet’s adventure was intended to take place in a new land, but as we dove in, it quickly became too large and too unique to stay a DLC, as initially planned,” the developer said. But the game quickly outgrew its original scope, the team wrote. Silksong was originally conceived as just another piece of downloadable content for Hollow Knight, which already received several post-launch expansions. Hornet will explore brand new worlds in Hollow Knight: Silksong. The team also teased that Hornet will have different moves and abilities, likely earned over her adventures in the metroidvania style, as well as the ability to craft traps and “mechanisms.” The game will feature the music of Hollow Knight composer Christopher Larkin, who crafted some haunting, memorable tunes for the first game, and a more challenging “Silk Soul Mode” after players have completed the game. According to a blog post by indie studio Team Cherry, Hornet was kidnapped and taken to a “whole new kingdom haunted by silk and song.” Her journey through to that kingdom’s peak takes her past 150 new enemy types, and through vivid environments like “coral forests, mossy grottos, gilded cities and misted moors.” Silksong stars Hornet, the princess protector of Hallownest from the previous game, who provides some challenging fights against the main protagonist, the Knight. Hollow Knight developer Team Cherry surprised fans this morning by announcing a full sequel to 2017’s bug-filled metroidvania game, called Hollow Knight: Silksong.
